Empower Your Child's Voice
Welcome to Unheard Words! I'm Katie, a speech-language pathologist who specializes in child-led, play-based, neurodiversity affirming care for autistic children. At Unheard Words your child is provided with individualized, compassionate, evidence-based therapy to support their communication development. No matter their means of communication, your child has important things to say and they deserve to feel empowered in having their words heard. Unheard words is a safe, inclusive space where your child can thrive in their unique abilities and reach their full potential.
Therapeutic Values
It's not speech-language work, it's speech-language therapy.
True progress comes from building a true, therapeutic relationship.
Strengths, not deficits
A strengths-based approach
Your child's unique strengths deserve the utmost respect. At Unheard Words, building upon their strengths and motivations is top priority. Their unique communication styles will always be honored. We can build upon those strengths to develop your child's most effective and efficient method of communication.
Presence & Mindfulness
Being present in the moment allows me to be mindful of micro-moments of progress. We love to see big progress, but its the little steps in between, a glance here, a gesture there, that build up over time to result in true, meaningful progress.

Moment-to-Moment
Attunement
It's not about having a plan to stick to, it's about flexibility, seeing what your child is interested in and motivated by, and attuning to their ups and downs moment by moment. If it's meaningful to them it's meaningful to me.
Autonomy & Self-Advocacy
Your child sets the tone for their session. It should go without saying that their autonomy and self-advocacy are respected and empowered at all times. Ensuring they can make choices and advocate for their wants and needs are top therapeutic priorities.

FAQs
Do you take insurance?
No, at this time Unheard Words is private pay only. However, I am happy to provide a superbill at your request for you to obtain reimbursement through your insurance.
My child can't say their R's. Will you work on their articulation?
This is not what I specialize in. It's important for you to find a clinician who can fully support your child's needs. If articulation therapy is what you're looking for, Unheard Words will not be able to fill that need.
How much does it cost?
Unheard Words operates on a quarterly subscription model. This means you pay upfront for 10 weekly sessions. (Contact) Katie for more details and current pricing.
